Ode to Our Lady of Guadalupe

I used to call my mother on my birthday, just to thank her for doing all the work of pushing me into this small wild world. The new short poem below travels along the same lines. It was conceived on Christmas. Please read it aloud:

Ode to Our Lady of Guadalupe

namaste
you namaskar me brown
palms touching to mimic
dogged dutiful prayer oh
you sober sort of virgin
so stubbornly serene
emerging from god's golden labia
cloaked in patriotic garb
bless your tilted trickster head
a divine clitoris crowned
with twelve disciple stars oh
you cosmic water spirit supreme
mama glorious oh
you full gloomy moon oh
goddess of love and december oh
you waker of wolves and women
parent of the savior sun
